Different type of strings of fate other than the red one?

I've heard about the Asian myth that there is a red string tied between lovers which cannot be seen or severed. Are there other types of strings which tie you to things which are different colors? I ask because I read this manga called Shibariya Komachi which puts forward that kind of belief and I'm wondering if that is true or just the creativity of the mangaka. I've tried looking on the web but haven't found anything under Shintoism, Onmyodo, Chinese mythology, or Chinese astrology.

In Bleach there is the same thing. But they call it a red ribbon. It must have something to do with the Asian folk lour. That is the only color I have heard about.
