Are there any good "modern" rock bands with excellent, rangeful vocals?

Seriously... I know all the 80's shyt, and a lot of them kicked ***. I'm having a serious time finding shyt that kicks *** in the last 20 years. I'm wanting to find more modern shyt, cause I'm stuck in my father's damn generation of music.

Anyway, when I mean vocals, this is what I'm saying; no low, one toned voices, or too much weirdness, like what they call character these days; just straight forward and bad asc! Here is a list; the vocals are the most important to me, and the band should automatically just Kick asc...

Old-
Queen-Freddie Mercury
Robert Plant
Aerosmith
Hardline/axel rudi pell
Sammy Hagar
and plenty more in the old category, but you get the drift...

New-
(ones I have already)
Muse
Radiohead
The Darkness
The Stone Gods

This is about it in the new category; most bands aren't elegant or colorful enough for my tastes these days...

I guess it's more than just vocals; these bands and members of them are rather expressive and artistic, a step from the ordinary shyt. There is a difference between this "excellent copy-cats," of modern music, and those that stand out. Some of them are quite eccentric, like Mercury, Plant, Hawkins (of the darkness), but ****** talented. Where the hell are the rest of these people?

a band called OURS.
the singer is named jimmy gnecco and his vocal style is similar to : freddie mercury, matt from muse, jeff buckley, thom yorke.
the first album, DISTORTED LULLABIES is beautiful, my favorite album of all time.

OLD:

Jefferson Airplane- Grace Slick had an amazingly strong & distinct voice. Marty Balin also had a distinct voice but more soulful.

Starship- Mickey Thomas had a strong, high voice.

Heart- Ann Wilson, my god she had a beautiful voice! And not to mention STRONG!

Fleetwood Mac-Stevie Nicks. Love her mysterious voice. Very distinct too.

the Doors- I think Jim Morrison had one of the best male vocals EVER!!!!!

1. Children of Bodom
2. Nightwish
3.Tarot
4. Within Temptation
5. Apocalyptica
6. 10 Years
7. Seether
8. Foo Fighters
9. Dimmu Borgir
10.Epica

Alter Bridge- Kashmir (cover Led Zep)

Jon Oliva's Pain

Looking at the bands you like I would say check out Soundgarden. They have riffs like Zeppelin and Sabbath and Chris Cornell has an amazing range.

hell yea- theres disturbed (and if u cn find the exact date of wen theyre cumin to wellington in nz pleeeez tell) a nz band named HLAH( aka Head Like a hole), the eagles of deathmetal- love the song "cherry cola" dnt knw how" hard rock" u like, theres godsmack, ther are a few around i think its just a matter of goin to the music shop and askin round n havin a listen and checkin latest venues at pubs etc.

Dunno if you'll consider 'em "modern" but they are being touted as "reborn." The new album, "Revelation" of the classic band Journey features a younger lead singer with excellent vocals. If you're so inclined, I think it is a super great deal to get 2 cd's and a dvd of a recent concert (yes, 3 disks in all!!) for $11.99 at Walmart. Can u beat that!?! One cd features new songs. Good ones in my opinion. I guess even if only for the cost of it, you may want to try it out.

I agree with you on vocals these days - a lot of older music carried on the vocals rather than the instruments. I love the darkness,

the mars volta are an experimental rock band and their lead singer is a huge musical talent, he's almost (but not quite) comparable to freddie mercury in that he has a huge vocal range. For a really good example of this, try one of their songs called "Inertiatic ESP". The Mars Volta is not emo, screamo, metal or any of that kind of shiza. Some of their songs are quite slow though, and I try to avoid them.

Jet has a fairly rolling stones feel, but more modern. They're probably a little too mainstream for me but if you're looking for modern bands that sound a bit old school, try "rollover dj" or "are you gonna be my girl".

I know what you mean by bands that automatically kick asc. I think you have pretty much most of the modern ones down pat (there aren't many).

The Midnight Juggernauts guy sounds a bit like David Bowie in "into the galaxy".

there are many some are -
1.Simple Plan
2.Green Day
