Car accident over the weekend, need help please.? |
So I had a girl rear-end me this weekend. It happened on Friday evening around 6. Now it was a stopped violation, and she didn't see I was stopped so she pulled forward and ran into me. There really wasn't much damage other than a little bit of paint flecking off and some minor scrapes. Now, I see this as cosmetic and I already informed my insurance company. The girl admitted fault, but I never called the police. We exchanged info and she told me she'd call her insurance. My question is, are they going to give me a hard time now that it's Monday and I'm calling the police? I'm calling them because my insurance company told me to. But, I think that's only if there is signifigant damage. I'm going to go to a body shop to find out. You shouldn't have a problem. Some areas don't even require a Police report if the damage is under a certain amount. Just tell the Police that you are following your insurance company's advice. You will have to go the the station. The police will not come to your home. Did your insurance company direct you to call the police? Normally if the $ amount is small, it isn't required. Just trying to figure out why you would suddenly call them. I don't know the laws of your state. In Texas you don't have to make a police report unless there was an injury or there was a certain amount of damage. Call her insurance and make a claim is what you should do. No, they will not. In most cases where the damage is minor, and there are no claimed injuries, the police will not even respond. No, but at least you have learned your lesson. ALWAYS call the police, no matter how trivial the accident. |
