I need some western riding advice!?

Ok, so I have been riding western saddle for about a year now and I have a few questions. I am in training for barrel racing. I seem to be getting the part of heels down, sit back in the saddle, rock the reins with the horses head when at a lope, move with the horse. But I can鈥檛 seem to get the part of relaxing my legs better and doing what I would call slouching, or as my trainer puts it, getting punched in the gut. Is there any exercises I can do that will help that? (relaxing legs and slouching) I am a tall person, so it is hard for me to slouch because of my good posture. Also what I am loping and I make a turn, I can鈥檛 seem to turn my upper body on the outside, so when I go around a turn my trainer says to lean the opposite way. When I am turning I go way forward and end up almost falling off. I lose reins, my body falls way forward. I haven鈥檛 fallen off yet when doing that stuff, but I am counting down the days till. i am tottaly comfortable lopeing too. (incase you needed to know) Is there anyway I can better that? Thanks!

to the 2nd poster: i rock with his head, not his head! THAT WOULD BE WHAT I WOULD CALL INSANE!!!!!!

In order to "slouch", you need to totally relax, and move with your horse. I don't really know how to tell you how to do it, because that's the way I've ridden since I first climbed on a horse. Watch some footage of barrel racers, and see how they do it.

Well first rocking a horses head is very wrong !
Also it sounds like you need to getback to basics, Sounds like you need to ride with our stuurips and learn to get a better seat
If you fall forward THATS CLAERLY SHOWS ME THAT YOU HAVE NOT had enough time in the saddle and is Not centered enough to canter yet you do have to sit back A;BIT '' Not to much
you do need to sit up lengthen your leg around your horse
I have not seen you ride but from what your saying about the trainer I would really think about changeing
and maybe start with a show trainer that will get a good seat on you
then go back too barrel s
