Need help fighting an really unfaire $50 parking ticket? |
so i get this $50 parking ticket on my windshild glass, which states NO PARK/STREET CLEANING ! but the problem was there where abseloutly no signs around, after spending 30 minutes looking for one i realized there was sign about 10 feet away from my car but it is abseloutly impossible to read or even notice because it about 10 inches away from a very big tree and the sign it self is completley hidden behind recognetion in between the branches, it looks like a branch support for the tree instead of a sign! so i went to theire website and they said call a nubmer or write the m letter with proof and photo's and etc....! im trying to write a letter to them and that other devision in charge of ticket citations, but i duno how to start off or even write! can some one please help me? should i be honest and polite? would they take advantage or should i be aggressive and straight forward... all about business? any help with the letter writng would be appreciated, thanks! P. S. this is my first parking ticket and i've never been to that part of Los Angeles before. im not trying to get out of a ticket! the sign is invisible because it is completley cover with leafs to the point you cant even see the surface of the sign! i saw the top corner of it thats how i knew! i took pictures but i couln't post them on flicker because they were too big! plus there is an error on this ticket, it says that this citation was issued on 2009 ( next year). there are no court date's you ieather pay or dispute, what i need help is with the writing, i've never wrote anything to goverment agencies so i duno what kinda of letter i should write, as professional, you know like lawyer letters, use big words, or write it as civilan? who decides the outcome of this reviews? Some municipalities have internal review processes for parking citations - so you may not need to go to court if your local agency has this. Yes it is best to be polite so the letter will be taken seriously. State everything you wrote here and why you think the ticket unfair. Take pictures of the sign and where you had your car parked when you received the ticket. Attache the picture with each statement about the branch: the one about the distance: The one of where your car was parked and go to court to present your case. Not knowing that you were not supposed to park there falls under the deal about 'ignorance of the law is no excuse'. The ticket will give you instructions on how to plea not guilty. Take pictures of the sign and tree and take it to city court. City court is a f u c k ing joke. You'll get out of it because chances 66% that the officer that wrote it will not even show up to court to fight you. You should have a date on there for traffic court- if not you can call the number on there and ask. They will sometimes throw it out if you bother to show up for traffic court, and almost always at least reduce the fine. Good luck. It's better to show up at the courthouse, because usually the cops never arrive, they have more important things to be attending to, so just be your own lawyer and save yourself 50 bucks at the courthouse. Cops are almost never, ever there. i am going to be completly honest with you, 99 percent of the people who fight parking tickets dont win. Street Cleaning signs are usually posted all down the block. Also you will have to waste a day of work to fight the ticket. Take a picture of it and when you go to court or to pay it show it to them. They may let the ticket go and have the city come out to clear the area covering the sign. Good Luck. Take photos and go to court on the date listed. be polite Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Pay the ticket I would definatly be polite about it. More flies wit honey thing!! But write a nice letter explaining how you can understand that they can't have people parking all over the place, but that wasn't your intention. Tell them your record is clean (if it is) and you'd like to keep it that way. Attatch a picture. Remember, if you attempt to understand their position first, then they will be more likely to cooperate. Take the letter and picture, and speak to someone in person. Keep your cool, and they might work wit you just write a letter saying your car broke down. it worked with me |
