aginal bleeding can occur frequently in the first trimester of pregnancy and may not be a sign of problems. But bleeding that occurs in the second and third trimester of pregnancy can often be a sign of a possible complication. Bleeding can be caused by a number of reasons.

Some basic things to know about bleeding are:

*
If you are bleeding, you should always wear a pad or panty liner so that you can monitor how much you are bleeding and what type of bleeding you are experiencing.
*
You should never wear a tampon or introduce anything else into the vaginal area such as douche or sexual intercourse if you are currently experiencing bleeding.
*
If you are also experiencing any of the other symptoms mentioned below in connection with a possible complication, you should contact your health care provider immediately.

It's estimated that 25% of all women have bleeding in early pregnancy. One possible cause of this bleeding is implantation bleeding.
Implantation bleeding is lighter than menstrual bleeding, and consists of pink or brown colored blood. Implantation bleeding occurs when the trophoblast, or tissue that surrounds the egg, attaches to the endometrium and slowly eats its way into the lining. As it does so, it eats through the mother's blood vessels, forming blood lakes within itself. When these blood lakes form near the surface of the trophoblast, they often cause implantation bleeding.
Bleeding while pregnant doesn't mean that miscarriage is certain, you should be fine, but check it out with your gp to be safe.

I had 3 times bleeding during my pregnancy, I was very worried because we conceived after nearly three years of trying for a baby. each time we went to the hospital emergency they told me baby is fine but they did not now the reason why I bleed ed, they said bleeding in first trimester is very common but only god knows why!maybe it is from cervix
at the end and a very difficult pregnancy it was a happy end and I gave birth to healthy boy!
But I advise you do not let yourself worry and get scarred it is not good for you and your baby ,forget the gp and midwife, go straight to the emergency hospital and check everything it is your absolute right hopfully it nothing!
Good luck

I bled lightly but often during my first pregnancy and this was treated as a threatened miscarriage. I wasn't allowed to go to work and I had to rest.

I think you should see your doctor - to put your mind at rest as much as anything. If you have had a miscarriage before you will know that not much will prevent it happening but I do feel your midwife could have been a little kinder. Visit the doctor - my doctor arranged a scan for me after a fairly heavy spate of blood loss.

So rest up, try not to worry (easier said than done I know) and try to see your doctor. By the way - after my very worrying pregnancy I had a beautiful baby girl who is now a beautiful 18 year old!

Good luck to you.

brown bleeding is NOT ok. I had this at 10 weeks pregnant - very light and only when I wiped, lot's of people told me not to worry, it was normal. my midwife sent me for a scan, and the baby had died and I was miscarrying. I should also add that I had no pain whatsoever, and felt fine. Some people do bleed whilst pregant and go on to have healthy babies, but no bleeding should be dismissed as 'normal' and should be checked out immediately. You can alway go to the early pregnancy unit at your hospital and they will scan you. Good luck, I really hope everything is OK with you and your little bub x

theres nothing you can do sadly, a lot of women will bleed during their pregnancy and most of the time its nothing to worry about. is it red blood or brown/pink? if its brown and very light then its nothing to worry about, ive had it twice now and im 9 weeks gone. i had a scan and everything is fine. just keep as relaxed as you can as if you over do it that can increase your chances of bleeding. take care

its normal when i was around tha weeks i had some light bleedin as well and i had a beautiful healthy baby girl who is now 4months and nothin happened to her i wouldnt worried if it gets heavier and u start to clot and u have bad pains then u may have a miscarriage but as for right now sweetie u r fine

I know it's scary and have also been there with a m/c. If you are really worried and are in pain go to emergency. She's right though, it you do loose it, there is nothing that can be done, but try to stay calm. Maybe go lay down and try to relax. M/C happen within this first 20 weeks, and are very frequent for a lot of ppl. I hope you are okay... God bless!

if you are bleeding and you are in pain what are you waiting to go to the doctor. if you go today it is better than if you go tomorrow. go to a doctor not a midwife he will understand better. and have courage. good luck.

I had the same thing happen early on. That area becomes very vascular during pregnancy and spot bleeding can happen. Nature will take it's course - your midwife is correct - if it's not heavy or painful than don't worry too much.

Means go to the Doctor. My wife is 24 weeks. The doctor told her that if she had ANY blood to contact her right away so she could check her.

Could it possibly be a show? my wife had a small bleed but still gave birth to our daughter. Good luck i'm sure everything will be ok.

i had bleeding at 5 and 6 weeks now im 9 weeks all well had first scan at 6.5days little bean lol.
the doc at the hosptial said i wud misscarry and past my baby,( DONT THINK SO)all going well. gud luck

it could be discharge (old blood) but if you are worried go and see the doctor as you still 1st trimester
