6 months to plan a wedding..doable...anyone done it?

ok so we were meant to be marrying 30th may 09 but have moved it forward to 29th nov this year...so i have just over 6 months to plan this wedding. i am a super organised person so i see no worries but ppl keep telling me it cant be done! anyone done it in 6months or less? oh and i will be planning it almost alone cos like most men my fiance isnt that interested in the 'little details' as he calls it and says he will give me half the money for it and i can do with it what i want. as we are moving it forward we are cutting back costs as we have less time to save for it...i have managed to knock 3 grand off the total cost and have cut the wedding guest list down so more people will be invited to the reception rather then the wedding (people who i aint seen in years but have to invite cos of my mum)

but anyways...yeah its doable right?

yes deffo!

Yeah it can be done. Just stay organized and include him. It know that he said he didn't, but include him on the things you know he would like. My fiance really enjoyed registering for the gifts ... I kept telling him it's like making a Christmas list for our wedding. He got really into that, everything else he doesn't care for.

6 months!?!?! Girl you have PLENTY of time!!!

I had to put my wedding together in about 4 weeks!! (pleasures of marrying a man in the military and having to work with his schedule!!)

If you need any help at ALL for idea's concerns anything feel free to contact me any time, I'm more then willing to help you out!!

We have done it in 4 months! We also moved the wedding up and that is why we had to rush. But we are getting married on July 3, which is a Thursday, so all the vendors we needed were free on that date, we got lucky!

What is all the planning for? Go to the registry office with a witness, swear your vows and that is the easiest way to marry. At least when you divorce is that you shall not have spent 1000s on nothing.

Yes, it's definitely do-able. I planned mine in a month, and it was beautiful. If you have six months, and you're super-organized, you're doing great.

Have a great wedding!

definitely doable. i planned mine in 9 months, but i was honestly done with all the planning after about 5 months, then just had to sit and wait for 4 months til the wedding.

Yeah it's doable! My sister did it in 3. Check out this website and it is a step-by-step guide to planning a wedding in 6 months: http://www.weddingchaos.co.uk/wedding-co...

My sister did hers on her own in 4 months....she also told everyone she could that she was marrying and people helped her by lending her tables and vases and things...so tell everyone you meet and you might get offers too.

My friend planned a wedding in less than 3 and it was fine. The hardest part is finding a location that is available. Good luck with that!!!

My sister did it in 3 months and they had a fantastic wedding! So, yes, very doable!!!

You have plenty of time, i attended a wedding and it was planned within 2months.

It's completely possible. As long as you've got the major things like the venue, officiant, and catering sorted it should be easy. The other things will fall into place. And if they don't you'll probably be the only one who'll notice.

Other things you might be able to save on if you haven't already done them - if you haven't done the invites yet just print off address labels in a nice script, don't hire a calligrapher, don't get personalized matches/napkins/etc or 'guest favors' for the reception, get a nice small cake for the wedding party and a big Costco-type sheet cake for the guests (have the reception folks cut the sheet cake in the back and serve individually), instead of a traditional DJ just load up an iPod w/ your fav songs and put it through the sound system, don't bother with a seating chart - let the guests sort it all out for themselves, don't do an open bar - limit the options to just wine or a selection of one red, one white, and a few types of beer.

It is perfectly doable - I got engaged 1 month ago, we are getting married in 4 months and near enough everything is done, venue booked, invites ordered, rings bought and engraved, reception venue booked, catering booked, entertainment booked, bridesmaid dress bought, pageboy outfits bought, I know exactly what my cake is going to look like (Im doing it myself) guest list sorted.
The things that I haven't sorted are things that can't be done till nearer the time (eg my dress as I am dieting before the wedding) Don't let people get to you by saying that it can't be done as there are plenty of people around to prove that it can! And if you want to get married in a castle stick to your guns! My top tips would be get the venues organised first - they are most important, then decide how many guests so you can organise the catering. Once the big things are out of the way you can take more time over organising the bits and pieces. Good luck!!!

Hi and congratulations!

You most certainly CAN plan a wedding in 6 months. Don't listen to those who say you can't. The biggest stumbling block (at least here in the U.S.) is securing a site for the ceremony and the reception. However, I see you already have that done.....so you are ahead of the game!

No problem. It will be easy to do all the other things in 6 months. Good luck!

More than doable. I organised mine in 12wks and in the middle of that had a car accident so wasn't able to do anything for a few of those weeks. Once you book reception and service everything else will fall into place. I even made my own invitations. Just keep focused know what you want and stick to it. November is usually a pretty quiet time for weddings so you shouldn't have any trouble getting all your services. Good luck and remember to enjoy your day it will be fantastic!

A Bride and Groom contacted me on a Wednesday morning, they wanted "a nice wedding" on Saturday morning (of that same week).

By Noon on Wednesday morning . . a ceremony site was reserved . . a reception site was reserved . . a caterer was contacted . . a wedding cake was ordered . . and flowers were ordered. And by six o'clock that evening, the Bride had purchased a simple wedding gown and the groom had rented a tuxedo.

So if a wedding can be put together in FOUR DAYS, then I think you will be able to put one together in SIX MONTHS.

I think it can definitely be done. The only problem you might have is booking the venues you want for your ceremony / reception as a lot of people book these well in advance for popular times of the year (spring and summer) but often people can be pretty lucky!

My best friend planned her wedding in 4 months and it was beautiful. She had to have it on a Sunday as all of the Fridays and Saturdays were booked out at the reception venue she wanted but most people took the Monday off work anyway so it worked out ok. She also bought a wedding dress that luckily only needed 1 lot of alterations.
