Prom night story....confused?

I went to prom last night with this foreign guy I really like and have for a while. He went a while not talking to me, and recently hapologized & told me it's cuz hes shy w/ me, but he wanted to ask me to prom for the longest time and did. He never actually said he likes me but idk it seemed obvious (my friends thought so). well last night was fun, but he hates dancing so his mom told me to push him a little. So i did, not a lot but enough to get him up there. He kept asking if im having fun and i said yea if u are, and he said he was. we were talking alone and i hinted at how much i always dreamed of this with him, but he never took the opportunity to say he had too or that he likes me. he called me his best friend, but i wouldnt say we're best friends. hes the guy i tell my best friends about. and i had to be the more forward one, like when we were dancing and stuff. so is his lack of assertiveness w/ me a sign of him liking me or just wanting friend ship (ps hes leaving for summer)

yes that is the exact question i'm wondering, and I guess I'm afraid to know the answer because I really really like him.

It is hard to read some boys but some foreigners have different dating styles. My daughter like a boy from Sri Lanka. He had the greatest personality, everyone loved him, but he never was serious about things. Not like he was joking around but like he never showed that much emotion and it came off like he was better than you at times but everyone knew he did not mean that and was not like that. I guess I would see he never let anyone in, if you know what I mean. By hi m asking if you are having fun sounds like he is just a little insecure of himself and probably shy. Maybe he didnt have a l ot of date or interactions with girls. Him saying you are is best friend is weird. Is he saying that because he wants you to just be his friend? or is that his way of saying he likes you and feels you have a type of closeness. It is so hard to read boys. I guess time will tell.
