Calling on all soldiers, how is life in general now?

I feel for you guys you know! Sometimes I wish I was out there with you guys, I know how you feel and I know a lot of people back in England who haven't gone to war are very naive and only see what the media wants them to see.

Life is tough out in Afghanistan for sure, I don't need to tell you that, but what does annoy me is some of the people out in this country making jokes out of the war. If they ever knew what was going on out there they wouldn't think twice about turning the other way and giving you guys the full support.

I respect you guys more than anyone!
People in this country are asked to work overtime they moan, you guys asked to stay another 3 months in Afghanistan and you accept it. Us guys here get a cold and cough and we take the day of work, you guys get no sleep, bad sunburn and even shot but you keep on moving forward!

So life is hard adapting back to life in Britian? It must be, especially when you see the lack of respect given!

F9T, I know this is meant with good intention but it sounds so patronising...

My brother is in iraq he is 23.
He came home last month for 2 weeks and had to go back
he gets homesick he misses his gf he has know since the 6th grade.. I am only 12 and stuff but still.
He is paramedic there he got ill once while he was there they had to do surgey but hey they where taking pics and he was laughing.
He tells me Iraq looks just like fl.
Besides with out all the nice buildings and stuff =]

I don't know about England, but I am an army brat and my dad is in the US Army. We don't see much disrespect around us, since we are always living on an army base surrounded by other soldiers. I agree with you when you say that the soldiers are unappreaciated: it hurts my father very much to see politicians the politicians who attack the war in Iraq who never have seen someone die, gone starving, not hungry, or had felt the fear of dying in your mind. Its hard, but we just hold our heads high and keep plowing forward.
