Scared to death about STD?

On 5/10/08 I was away on an all girls weekend and got drunk and was taken advantage of sexually. I dont remember a single thing but I woke up the next morning bruised and with severe vaginal pain. When I got home from the weekend I called a crisis center and told them what happened and they gave me Zithromax, Flagyl and Cipro to prevent gonnarhea, chlamydia and trich. Since then , I am a complete mess. I have convinced myself that I have HIV and every other disease. I am so scared. They said don't test for that until 3 months. Well I can't live my life. I can't do anything. Any bump on my body is a sign to me. Now I feel like my glands are swollen. They really do feel like my glands are swollen in my groin area. But I keep looking in the mirror expecting to find a rash. I can't seem to move forward- all I think about. I have no idea who the guy was - not his name or anything! Maybe I have a yeast infection from all the antibiotics, but does that cause swollen glands?

I am in a similiar situation about 2 months ago. I was involved in acqauintance rape who just so happened to be my friend. He has been reported to the police, but it breaks my heart especially because it is someone I know. I understand what you are going thru as I convinced myself I have HIV because I have real symptoms although my attacker has been tested negative. I am already on my 3rd month to find out if it is a definite negative or a scary positive. I've been tested over 10 times, so far so good these past 2 months, but I got 1 more to go. I understand how you feel you may can't go on, as I didn't think I could, BUT I DID. It'll be 3 months for me in a few weeks since then and all I can say is it has been a long journey and pain and suffering and what ifs. The best thing I could tell you is to report it to the police in the area, speak to a psychiatrist, and do whatever you can to take your mind off for the next 3 months. Believe me, it is hard, but it's either that or dying. But you don't want to give up do you?

You need to just relax. What has happened is done and over with. There is no going back. HIV takes a long time to even have any symptoms, so odds are, even if you did have it, it is not causing your glands to swell in size. This could be a number of things. Your lymph system fights off disease, and it could just be a bug going through your system. If they are noticeably bigger, not just your paranoia, go to a doctor. Next time you must take better care of yourself! It is OK to drink, but never to the point where you lose control. I hope that you make better decisions from now on! Just relax, and be patient!
