Im Confused With Port Forwarding (Again)?

Ok so I have TWO routers or what ever you call it and one is a D-link 704 and the other is like a Linksy thingy (thats my wireless router) Which one do I configer?

So wait should I port forward my wirless router because I am hooked up on that one?

Well, which router are YOU hooked into? If its router 1 in the chain configure it to port forward. If the you are using the second router you really will have to configure BOTH if you want them to work. (Using the second is easier to setup by the way as really it needs to be set as a DMZ in the first router.)

Lets say that your DLINK is the FIRST router in the system... like this
Modem--->DLink--->Linksys---->Your computer
Then configure the LInksys IP as the DMZ in the DLINK!
Configure the Linksys to port forward the ports needed to your computer.

Just remember to put the second router as the DMZ of the First router if you want two routers and need to port forward.. Then configure ALL port forwarding on the SECOND ROUTER and leave the first one alone! (All ports of the first router are then forwarded to the second which can then pick port forwards to the computers attached to it!) You can still use machines on router 1 and have them use the internet etc. you just can not use them with any port forwarding requirements!

if your using all your ports on one of them. put the dlink first then plug a cable from the d link to the linksys and plug it into the linksys on the port number 1 ( not the internet port). then login to the configuration page of teh linksys router and shut off DHCP

only use one if possible and configure that one there are almost no situations in a home network where you would need more than one, it makes it overly complicated.
