Shoaib cleared to play in IPL?

Shoaib Akhtar has been cleared to play in the IPL after the Appellate Tribunal decided to suspend his five-year ban for one month, until they reconvene on June 4. The PCB has, in turn, granted Shoaib a No Objection Certificate to feature in the IPL.

Lalit Modi, the chairman and commissioner of the IPL, confirmed that Shoaib will play the tournament. "We look forward to Shoaib playing for us," Modi said. "I am going to call him immediately and invite him to come to Kolkata tonight or tomorrow morning."

He needs to perform really good and show the Whole world that he still got potential to play, so PCB can look at performance in IPL and go soft on him Jun, while making the decision against him , and may be let him go with Fine only and so he can still Continue with his last 2 or 3 years of Cricketing career.

Frankly, till now I do not understand why Akhtar was suspended for such a long time. PCB needs to be more explicit in the reason. Flimsy words like "dissent" etc. are no justification. My personal view is of course Akhtar has been done in by internal politics. It is well known that he has a temper and this gets him into trouble. I am not praising him, but why ban somebody for non-cricketing reasons?

As far a reprieve from suspension is concerned, is it not convenient to un-suspend him for 1 month so that he can play for IPL? Again shows the character of the spineless nature of the "politicians" heading PCB. It is obvious that they have been strong-armed by BCCI.

If I were Akhtar I would play my cards well and do a good job in IPL, it is the only way out for him. Sad but true.

News says he will arrive some time tomorrow. IPL / Lalit Modi has cleared him.
He will be checked for fitness by Doc. Will take another 48 Hours for the results.

He should play well. Avoid controvesies, if he wants to survive in cricket World.
