What do you do when you feel empty and numb?

I wake up each morning with nothing to look forward to. I just go through the motions. I drive thirty minutes to school where I go to class and do work and leave. I go back home to parents who don't even know me and a brother who I don't even speak to. There I sit in my room and watch as life leaves me behind. The best part of my day is when I'm peacefully asleep. I don't feel sad, not happy either, just empty and numb inside. Nothing drives me anymore. I have noone I can call my bestfriend anymore as we have gone seperate ways and grown apart after highschool. No one I can really connect to on a deeper level. And I have wasted so much time on this girl but it goes nowhere and all my efforts are pointless but still, she continues to lead me on, push me away, and walk back in my life again like nothing happened. What's the point of life when nothing moves you anymore?

It appears you have depression. Despite popular belief, depression does not mean 'sad' or 'really upset', but rather is just a complete feeling of emptiness/numbness, exactly as you describe... your emotions are 'de-pressed' as opposed to stimulated.

However, to be diagnosed as having depression, you need to be 'feeling' this numbness/emptiness for at least for over a month. Have you?

In the case that you have depression, I'm not going to recommend you take anti-depressants, but rather I think what you are really after is human connection. Human connection that won't let you down, as your current relationships appear to be.

Ever thought about volunteer work? As I understand it, research indicates that spending as little as 2 hours a week, giving to someone else unconditionally, can help you in your particular situation. I assure that when you hear the stories of the people you help, you will be moved... and when you are moved, your emotions will start stimulating your purpose in your life once again.

Why this works? As I said, depression is basically your mind switching off. Usually as a defense mechanism, to protect yourself from further emotional injury. So the way you undo it, is by subjecting yourself to an emotional environment where you are almost guaranteed to come out feeling better. Chasing this girl, seems a little risky... so why not give your time to someone who actually appreciates your love and what you are worth?

Awwww sweetheart there is a point, this girl it sounds like she loves you :) She probably is not leading you on and your going through slump, it will get better nothing is pointless if you wanna talk I'm here :) Have a good night :)

Your depressed. You should really talk to a professional. You would be surprised your not alone. Many youths get psychological help. It's best to get it now & get treated.
