sounds like it's talking about going all the way to fulfill what you ought to fulfill to make this world a better place. it's like saying 'we've come too far to stop now, so put the past in the past, take a step forward, and don't let anything get in your way to make this world a better place'. when it says 'ignite the past' that could mean to burn the past, and 'let the bridges burn' could mean life's journey, as in the path of your life in the past, and letting that go

When one truly accepts Christ in to their life they are entering a new world. The bridge to the past is burned as sins are forgiven and the person you used to be is no longer. The past was sin filled (misery). From this point you are commited to trying to be more Christ-like.
