Second chances in dating... does this look good/bad?

A guy I once dated wanted to try one more time, he called me when he said he would and set up a date. I played it cool.

On the day of the date, he sms'd me saying that he was going to out of town (like two hours drive) for family stuff + wanted to reshedule in case he couldn't make it back on time and that he was sorry and that he was really looking forward to it. I sms'd back saying he could make it up to me.

The next day while we chatted online, I found out from him that he actually went out the night the got back in town (the day we were supposed to have dinner).

Talk bout mixed signals, we've dated before and it didn't work. So I called him after I found out & asked him y he wanted another chance. Was it because he really wanted another chance or because I was jus there (I'm single, obviously lol).

He said something along the lines of wanting to hang out and that he couldn't think '500 steps ahead' and that he wanted to have dinner.. what do u think?

the night he got back - so what if he went out? maybe it was late in the evening and he was only out for a while? maybe he wants to devote an entire evening to you - he was polite and canceled - big deal.

and he is right, why are you over-analyzing it, it's just dinner, take it one day at a time. If it works out it works out...

It could be as simple as, since he had already rescheduled, he assumed that you had already made plans so made some plans of his own.

If he wants to see you, he'll orgainse another meeting soon
