I was the target of racial discrimination at a bar/restaurant, what can I do?

I went to a bar a couple nights ago, and I, as well as several other strangers I talked to at the bar agreed that the bartender and some of the other employees were plain out racist. One of the bartenders on one floor even refused to serve me and my friends drinks with valid IDs! Anyways, I called up the bar today, and I wanted to file a customer complaint. I told the manager on duty my story, and he said nothing. No apology, no guarantee that the bartender would be disciplined. Is this normal? All he said that he will forward the request to the general manager..aren't they usually supposed to AT LEAST take your name and number down and apologize? Please let me know, I'm really upset, and I don't want to let this go, someoe needs to take action. I tried going through the better business bureau, and I can't figure it out..are there any other ways to do something (aside from a civil lawsuit?). Thanks a lot.

2. Expose the story to the local media or newspaper. They always give attention to things and stories on the negative like this will not be good for their business. Also, go right to the top, if you live near a city call the city's newsrooms affiliated with NBC, CBS, and ABC.

If you do this, I bet you'll get attention then. That is ridiculous and should not be happen in this day of age. Make a stand.

You should put your complaint in writing, and send it via certified mail, return receipt requested, to the establishment, directed to the attention of the general manager. Describe the incident as completely as you can in the letter, and state that you are unsatisfied with the results you've received so far.
It might be helpful to seek legal advice on what your options are as well; it probably won't come to a civil suit, but a formal letter of complaint on an attorney's letterhead might get you some satisfaction.

You can contact the General Manager yourself. Get the GM's contact information and explain the story to them. If that fails, call your local news station and get it on the news. Also, look up the BBA or BBB on the internet for your town and get the contact info for them and give them a call and explain the situation to them. Don't let this go. Everyone needs to know about their racist and ignorant ways.
