Is this school the answer? |
Mulberry school in Oxfordshire can take 40 pupils a year but it is hardly ever full. They take the so called unruly disruptive unmanageble unloved children and teach them they are worth something. It costs 拢123,000 a year to send the children there for 38 weeks .This is more than it costs to keep a troubled child in mainstream school with a care assistant. But the child is not included in anything because of their difficult behaviour. Should we be thinking this is the way forward for education when all else fails? As in one school where I live the kids are locked in to keep them there. Can we afford to teach them in this way?Your opinions please. There is a programme about the school . Its called Hold me tight , let me go and its on BBC4 on May 22nd at 9pm. Hi, I always think it's a good idea to take the disruptive children out of the class, where the other children want to actually learn something. I think as long as there was a noticeable difference in their behaviour after being sent to this school, then it's got to be worth it. I have to add that there should be a class for parents that don't know how to bring their children up properly, maybe then there would be no need for such expensive extra schools! You can't help but wonder why these things cost so much, nevertheless it's so important we get it right with these kids. There's been successful attempts in the past and the costs have always been their undoing. These ventures are usually the first to suffer spending cuts. Someone will soon say the p/c brigade are wasting tax payers money again. I think the education of these kids can be gotten for less than 4 times the yearly earnings of an average worker. When you put this much money intoa program that serves few, many sacrifice. A different approach todealing with these kids that is economically viable is my take on it. to be honest i think its a waste of money, at the end of the day, its how YOUR child behaves if they can blank out the troublemakers then, they have no worries about getting a good education |
