If I used "call forwarding" on my phone to stop harassing calls could I be tracked? |
I have been receiving harassing calls on my cellphone for 4 mos. now. I have changed my # 3times and talked with the police. Each time they find my number and the police could not do anything. I even set up another phone and gave that # out to everyone I knew instead of the new #. They have found my new # but they dont call the other phone. I was wondering if I used "call forwarding" on my phone to foward the call to 911 if 911 could trace it back to me? I figure if it goes to 911 then they can find out and arrest them and I dont have to deal with it anymore. Sounds like someone you think is on your side is not. How is this person getting every single new number? Someone you are giving it to is telling them. Instead of forwarding your calls to 911, which is actually not legal, you might try blocking your phone from receiving calls without a readable caller ID. Then if you get a call from the harasser, you'll have their number and can use that when you report the harassment. Talk to someone higher up at the department and ask them to monitor your incoming calls in order to get the person making the calls. If they're finding out your number repeatedly, it sounds like they might have a connection at the phone company, and that makes the case a bit more serious. Yes, they can trace it back. Instead, just get a restraining order against this person. Instead of (Call forward to 911), Call forward to the Police Department Phone number. |
