I installed steam, Orange Box and am currently playing Portal, the game is very laggy and has to run on absolute lowest settings, I was looking forward to purchasing CALL OF DUTY 4, but I am afraid that my "crappy" laptop performance will ruin the experience any suggestions?

thanks

maybe it's a too big game. try dropping down some of the quality game settings.

It's got good RAM, which makes me think that you have too many processes running. Hit CTRL+ALT+DLT and see what's running... go into the control panel and remove unnecessary active processes (.exe files).

It might not be able to handle it. The processor is not that great, there are better ones for gaming. Is it designed for gaming, was it labeled gaming laptop? Usually gaming laptops have Intel Core Duo or AMD X2.

have you tried shutting down all your running programs, they are all the icons in the taskbar on the right, right click them for the pop-up menu
