Where do you draw the line between self-respect and pride?

My boyfriend and I split up a month and a half ago over a stupid, insensitive comment he made while drunk. I made the situation worse by slapping him for it in front of all of his friends(I know I shouldnt have and I have appologized to him). It was a bad situation that quickly spun out of control. This was only made worse by a bad financial deal that left both of us feeling like we had been screwed over by the other. Despite all of this I miss him a lot. I want to call him to see if things can be worked out. The only problem is it kills me to call when he still hasn't apologized. (He had 3 weeks to apologize and didn't, after that I got a new phone number and never gave it to him... I also didn't leave a forwarding address when I moved out). Is it wrong for me to want him to make the first move in fixing things since he still hasn't apologized? Is it pride or self-respect?

I should also add in that I went to his house a week a ago to get the last of my stuff. He knows that his mom has my phone number now, and knows how to get it if he wants it. He hasn't called though. Should I take the fact that he hasn't tried to call yet as he's not interested in working things out?

As far as the pride thing goes, you've already done your part to leave yourself open if there are any options. As far as bad financial moves are concerned, these can happen to people that are married and yet marriages still survive. No, this runs much deeper than that. His feelings toward you must be stronger than what his friends think about something bad he said to you when he was drunk, or you slapping him. Please take into account also, how often does he like to get drunk with his friends? The whole point is that you have to be first in his mind. Not his buddies, or bad financial decisions which can happen to anybody. You've already left the door open far enough to see what happens next. You need not do any more. If that would have happened to me, the door would have been slammed shut in my face from day one.

its called a breakup because its broken honey. You've moved out. You don't get back together after that. Move on
