To my Indian friends a question on "Gandhigiri"?

My name is Rehman, originally from the province of Multan. I live in USA now. I mainly answer in the Cricket section.

Recently, I met a chinese looking Indian gentleman who gave me his DVD : LAGE RAHO MUNNA BHAI.

The movie was funny as well as heartfelt. I really enjoyed it very much and was very impressed. So I ask my Indian brothers and sisters a few questions:

1. Is more Munna Bhai movies being produced?

2. In your opinion does Gandhigiri work nowadays? Have you an anecdote that you could share?

I see, thanks aWellWisher, that will be very interesting. Yes, I also want to give Gandhigiri a try. Most importantly I think it is also how clearly one can speak the complete truth. This is my take too, hope you agree, if I am making sense!

Dear Rehman Bhai,
1. Munna Bhai may be seen in the USA in his next movie.
2. Gandhigiri works and it works not because of the one practicing it but because the opponent realizes his/ her mistake and correct themselves. So it relies on the thoughtfulness of the people.

Gandhi work or not this depends on person to person. u can try, feel and then u can know it. nobody can explain these things very well. Gandhi ji also just did and show the people seldom speak from his mouth.

so practice and feel, feelings speaks louder than words.

1. First of all, you should watch the prequel to Lage Raho Munna Bhai, called MunnaBhai MBBS (equivalent to an MD degree in India). It is about how a gang leader becomes a doctor in his own style. Secondly, there is a third movie with Munna Bhai releasing quite soon (maybe this year) about Munna Bhai visiting the United States and the problems he faces. You will probably really enjoy the upcoming film.

2. Does Gandhigiri work? I feel that most people are selfish, but that when forced to do so, they can be instilled with empathy, as Munna Bhai does in many instances of the film, although they are a bit idealistic and filmy. I know that in my life when I interact with people, when I try to be a show-off or act arrogant, most people respond negatively towards me, but when I just tell them the truth - discuss my insecurities and failures - sometimes they are more prone to help. Sometimes, of course, they just consider me a drama queen and someone is spoiling their mood. So, Gandhigiri works sometimes, but it is best in instances where there is no other viable option, as the old poor man in the movie who went to receive his pention.
