If I have to attend a City Attorney office hearing is it because of lack of evidence?

If the Los Angeles City Attorney had evidence they would move forward with a preliminary hearing? Right? They have a separate division called "Office Hearing Program" in which I speak to a prosecutor. Are they going to try to trick me to either plea or enter some community service program, or are they at the fence with evidence and want to size me up to make a "game time decision" to move forward with preliminary hearing. Is there anything I can do to find out what information or evidence the city has without having to hire an attorney to find out what's going on?

The Los Angeles City Attorney's office only prosecutes Misdemeanors. Therefore, if you have been charged it is a case that does not ever get a preliminary hearing. You should have a public defender or attorney. IF not, just go and listen. It sounds like a diversion program. If you like what you hear, take the deal. If not, then ask for a trial. Your choice. Talk to a lawyer, in LA County.
