I feel into a paypal phishing trap....help!? |
as soon as i relized it.it was to late i already put my password in.. well i called paypal up right away.... they helped me cancel my account.. but i just got online an i had about 6 emails saying bank accounts were confirmed. so just to see i tryed to log into my pay pal and my email was a vaild email but my password was not..and the last 2 digits of the phone number were not mine.. do you think they used my information to open another account? i have no idea what to do pay pal offices are closed and i def dont want to get screwed,, any help would be great....oh and a word of advice to pay pal users when i called they said its been happening alot this month..so make sure you dont click any links in the email and sign onto your account in a diffrent window and check your history to see if anything is out of wack...if everything is normal its just a spoof email..forward it to spoof.paypal.com spoof@paypal.com If they have your information I would sign up for credit monitoring for a few months to see if anyone used your info to sign up for credit cards, etc. It cost 11$ a month with Experian and might be less with the other credit agencies like equifax or transunion. Your bank might even have such a program. since you've already alerted PayPal to the phishing scam any info given to them by the phishers (with your info) may well be "red-flagged." PayPal is very consumer friendly. But do watch out, and keep an eye on any funny business with your bank account activities. Don't sweat it, you won't be responsible to PayPal for another's fees. These are my suggestions: call your bank in the morning and ask to speak to the fraud department. |
