Do I need to go to a Foster Home?

My mom refuses me medical treatment, even when my fevers become life-threatening. She also left me at school until almost 6 o'clock one day because she had to finish up playing a MMORPG and I had to make up a test. I finished said test around 5 o'clock and called her right after. We live a 7 minute drive from my school. Also, my step-dad (56) said that if he were younger, that he would chase me (15). My mom is also and out-of-work computer-addicted alcoholic. I worry for my well being. Should I go forward to a teacher or counselor and risk being placed in Foster Care?

How old are you? Maybe you need to get involved in sports, scouts, boys/girls club, big brother/sister, etc. and find some sort of mentor. Honestly, if you aren't being physically or sexually assualted, you don't have it that bad. As far as fevers, if you are not allergic, make sure you have access to tylenol or asprin, which will bring a fever down. Depending on what medical condition you have, if any, needs to be known for further recommendation. If you don't have any dire medical condition, and you just get fevers sometimes when you are sick, cold, or whatever, take the asprin. You can always go to a county hospital or free clinic that cannot deny you even if you don't have insurance.
