The first date went great, but why no second?

I'm 36 and recently went on a first date with this very pretty girl , 27, that I met at her work (she actually saw me there and gave her number to my friend for me to call). She and her boyfriend had just broken up). During dinner we had really good conversation, she laughed at my jokes and I could tell the chemistry was there. After dinner it was late so I suggested we rent a movie and go back to my house to watch it. She liked that idea so we did. During the movie we sat close & then i got closer and held her hand asking her in a semi-joking manner if I was being "too forward". She then looked at me like she wanted me to kiss her, which I did. She seemed very receptive and we kissed off and on throughout the movie. After the movie I took her back to her car and we had one last long kiss. I then suggested that we get together for sushi soon and she suggested this nearby restaurant although I didn't specify a date. I called her two days later and left a msg but she didn't call back. :(

Dating allows a trial period. Consider that you were a rebound / pick me up. Maybe she reconciled with her boyfriend. My guess is the reason why she hasn't called isn't because you did something wrong, it's because she just isn't ready to date again.

She just broke up with someone so maybe she is feeling conflicted.

Try calling her again and tell her that you had a great time and would like to see her again. Make sure you leave your number (then you know that she has no excuses) and wait to see if she calls. If she doesn't, it just wasn't the right time for her.

shes probably just having mixed feeling involvin her ex. That sounded like a good date though. Except for sushi...ewww!
