Is it okay to have an MRI every year?

Call me paranoid, but I'm somebody who wants myself & my family to get checked up often for cancer and other horrible things. Which is worse - risking having a cancer go undetected, or the radiation from a yearly MRI?

Look forward to any opinions or anybody's point of view who has info!

Thanks:)

You are not the only I used to have Tumor have radiation I'M , cure. fine. Yes every years- need to check is every thing is OK

Yea is better to check and prevent it.

YES ...you're paranoid. .......just kidding ;)

As the name implies....MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging). Imaging is made possible because of Magnets....and not radiation!..so your ok.

FYI...I have been working in a cancer center for 10 years!

...trust ze doctor!

I don't have a lot of experience with this but I thought about it and I don't think I would have an MRI yearly unless I needed to. They are extremely expensive and a bit pointless if you aren't showing symptoms of anything. Even if you do get an MRI, you are getting one without showing symptoms so the doctors don't have anything specific they are looking for, so it wouldn't be very effective.
In an MRI there isn't a big arrow with CANCER pointing to a tumor, they are difficult to understand.
Try not to worry so much :-). If you would feel more comfortable, just pay close attention to your body, and if you want you can just visit a doctor more often than suggested.
I know how scary cancer can be but worrying about it too much just inhibits you from living your healthy life that you have.
I hope I helped, good luck with any of your descicions!

There are no known side affects from MRI's. So dont worry they are fine. Do try to limit the CT's that you get.

You are not exposed to radiation when you undergo an MRI unless you are injected with a dye which is a radioactive isotope but is safe.
Even if you get yearly testing that does not guarantee that everything will be caught. Not only that but it will lead to unnecessary expenses if tests are performed without any clinical indication for doing so.

radioactive die is true
the answer is no
not yearly this will not help you.
