Why does it take so long for second interview ?

I've been on a slew of interviews recently , the first one I went to actually promised to call me back for a second interview with my "new supervisor" . After about one month I emailed the interviewer and asked her what was the status of my application. She procceded to tell me that they went ahead to hire someone else. To say I was frustrated was an understatement.

Fast forward to Feb 4, I went on another interview and was told that I should be contacted by a hiring manager in a few days or weeks and that it depends on them and how busy they are.

Am I being too impatient or am I reasonable? , if you're in need of employees as you say you are, why do you keep them hanging for weeks . Not a good feeling .

The first experience you had just stinks.

Personally, I suggest calling back after a week and just asking for an update. Be positive and upbeat, and just ask what the status is (If you leave a message, reiterate that you are excited about the opportunity and why you are a good fit, but keep it all concise - I suggest scripting it in advance.)

The problem with many companies is that they desperately need someone, so they are swamped so they don't have time to interview, so they are constantly behind. It's one of those Catch-22's of business.
