Why is there this "chase" between guys and girls?

I would say that my looks are not the best, but not the worse. I think when meeting girls, the main thing I provide is humor and charisma. That's basically how I get numbers and, possibly, dates.

When I was in high school, the only thing I could be was the typical "shoulder" for the women. The nice guy who will always finish last.

It used to be that when I would like a girl, I would force myself to wait three days or so when getting a number and try not to care... but I truly did and learned the hard way that girls don't like guys who act how they feel, but rather the chase.

Getting older, I'm becoming less and less interested. When I call back, it's typically a week or so since I got the number because it's just not a priority. I'm really beginning not to care, which upsets me. If two people are into one another, shouldn't they be strait forward about it?

NOT all girls love the chase. Many, including myself, likes a guy who is straight forward. You like me, I like you, let's go on a date. Simple as that. I think younger women or women who have self esteem issues like the chase b/c they enjoy the adrenaline rush of having a man pine after them. What you really need is to find a mature woman--whether she's younger or older-- whom you're compatible with. Like you said, the chase gets old really quickly and you don't need to waste your time on that.
