My 13 week old infant fell off the recliner!!!! I feel horrible.? |
I had just changed his diaper and sat him on the recliner to wash the Desitin off my hands so I could nurse him. I walked away turned on the water and THUMP....CRY!!! It sounded like an encyclopedia fell to the floor. I ran out the bathroom and there he lay screaming his head off. He had rolled forward, I think, and some kinda way landed on his back. I WAS SOOOO scared I didnt know what to do, so I call my mom and she came over right away. I felt his soft spot and it was throbbing and I couldnt remember if it pulsated before or not! He cried for about 5 mins and really just wanted to be comforted so I nursed him. He was fine after that and was back to his old fun loving self! I feel SO bad though. I didnt tell his dad. Cause he tells his mom EVERYTHING!!!! *sigh* I digress. But do you think my baby is okay??? No brain damage right???? As long as he doesn't start vomiting or lose consciousness he should be just fine. It happens to everybody! Don't beat yourself up too much! you should call your ped. just in case dont let him sleep for a couple hours and wake him frequently. babies should not be left unsupervised on high objects, however we have all done it. my first born rolled off my bed at 5 months. he was just fine. the pulsing in his soft spot was just his pulse, crying would make it faster I would think he's okay. His soft spot always pulsates, but was probably doing it more so because he was upset. Keep your eye on him and if you think anything is out of the norm, I'd take him to the doctor. aw, I know how scary that is, but it wasn't your fault. The fact that you felt horrible and freaked out and all that means you care. babies fall and tumble around all the time. Besides, he wasn't a newborn, if he fell really hard, maybe take him to a doctor. the baby should be fine Your baby will be fine and given the fact that he cried straight away is a good sign. If he is acting normally and with no significant bumps on his head then he will be fine. He will be fine. My daughter fell off my king size bed at 3 months. I had no idea should could even roll over. Thank goodness I had pillows on the floor. Another time my son decided it would be a good idea to go off my bed head first after the cat. He wasn't planning on hitting my dresser with his heroic leap. Kids are tougher then we give them credit for. He will have many more bumps and bruises before his first year is over lol. Just wait til he starts trying to walk. my best friend called me and told me her youngest (of 3) had learned to roll and rolled off the couch. its quite common even for experienced mothers. I'm sure your baby is fine. Just know not to leave him unattended ever again on a raised surface. everyone makes mistakes and fortunately yours was not harmful. good luck My baby's soft spot pulsates all the time. I hate to say this, but I think it has happened to everyone... If you are really paranoid about it, call the ped. Otherwise, I would not let him sleep for a couple of hours. If he does go to sleep keep waking him up to make sure he does not go into a deep sleep. It doesnt take much to get a concussion. ya he'll be fine you need to call you pediatrician. Oh man we all do this. I learned the hard way that the safest place for my daughter to be is on the ground where she can't knock her bean. Although now she rolls and does it anyway... |

Are you from Missouri, the show me state? It appears that God has blessed you with more than one positive answer to your question. Rejoice in the answer and live a good life. ...You're confused????? Try being him! Why are you sending him mixed messages? Of course you got no response...you sloughed him off so what did you expect? Why don't you sit down with yo... Why not one of these historical bulldog names, such as Rufus, Brutus, Crib, etc. ...your friend is an IDIOT!!!!!!!!! ...You can follow up after a day, but I would couch it in terms of a thank you note (if you hadn't written one already). ...It is always better and in your own interest that the follow up letter, as the name itself suggests, should be sent immediately after the interview !! ... |
