Such thing as a rational creationist? |
Whatever I read about the arguments put forward for creationism, it always seems to be illogical nonsense with the so called trump card of "God" etc... which defies all rationality. I have no problem with the idea of God, although I personally see no evidence for him, just the irrationality that comes with the idea. Does anyone have any actual evidence for creationism that can be scientifically tested? Jehen.. surely evidence within this day and age is evidence. We can only go on what we see and analyse around us. Surely there is no use in saying 'well there is a God because there is evidence that supports him, we just cant see it'. Evidence must be able to be analysed by the means we have, otherwise it is not evidence (until we have other means to 'test' it), and evidence that is not available to see or analyse is oxymoronous and irrational because it is not 'evidence' in the sense we know it, but belief. How about the fact that reliable methods for detecting design exist and are employed in forensics, archeology, and data fraud analysis. These methods can easily be employed to detect design in biological systems. To believe in something based on nothing, which goes against all scientific facts is irrational- so no. It's an oxymoron at best. No - their rationalization is that if God is God, then not everything he does can be explained by us mere mortals and our silly science. We'll just have to have faith. you are right. there is no science put forth by creationists. the only try to poke holes in science (which by itself is okay) and that doesn't make a science itself. the part that is not okay is that they use lies and misquotes to confuse people into believing them. they say things like 'i've never seen a rock turn into a dog' and people mop it up like sponges.. even though no scientist ever says that. A rational person knows that all of the evidence is not in. I am a completely empirical person and believe in the scientific method and believe what it tells us and more or less what it suggests to us about the mechanics of our origins. But why oh why would one conclude that based on what we know now, that is all there is to know and fact is established beyond any rational doubt? We can point to all kinds of such pronouncements of science in the past. I am a Christain and I believe that some kind of evolution must have happened. Even though...to be fair the evidence is mostly missing. When I see a monkey I think...that's awfully close to us as far as creatures go. Um, There is a god but we can't understand him, which is one of the reasons Im still trying to tap gods idea, There is no way you can be a creationist and not beleive in God. There is no way you can be a christian and beleive in Evolution. It just dosen't work. |
