Is pfconfig safe and worth getting?

I'm an avid gamer on my free time, but one of the most frustrating feelings in the world is not being able to host games or having slow path downloads because of my router. i tried forwarding all the right ports but to no success. i heard of a program called pf config that forwards the router for me. Any reviews on this or recommendation's on a new router thats pre-gamer set.

I have used port forwarding.com and although it works, it took up so many forwarding spots on my router that i couldnt fit more than one game
