How to you politely tell a girl to stop talking?

I love my girlfriend. We've been dating for 4 years. Sometimes, especially when she gets off of work, she'll call me. I'm happy to hear from her and look forward to getting together, but sometimes she will just go on and on and on about her day. Now, I listen, and respond, and try to be interested, but truthfully, sometimes it's so hard! My neck will start hurting because I'm trying to do other things so I hold the phone with my shoulder. Sometimes she calls me at work, and since I own my own business, there's no one to tell me I can't be on the phone. Sometimes I tell her that I need to get off the phone because I'm working, and that works, but sometimes I even get scared to use THAT excuse (even as valid as it is) because she gets offended.

What do I do? Do I just suck it up because I love her? That seems to work the best for me.

Hannah, I like your answer, but most of the time it's when we're on the phone. I've tried that though when we were in person. She caught me and got pissed.. hahaha. But sometimes when she gets all worked up about her day and is talking and talking about things, she looks so cute, so I really DO just want to kiss her! She doesn't like it though. Hehe.

Well she's one of those chatty-kathy's...this is who she will always be - she won't change. Since you are able to tolerate this, i'd suggest a speaker-phone for after work to solve your neck-problems (because she obviously needs you to confide in after her long work day, which is sweet in a way) but during work, time is money especially if you run your own business. You do have to make it clear to her that while you are at work the phone calls need to be emergency-only type things...or just quick hello-goodbye things...but not for hours on end. And in this case, just like the other poster says...be firm.

Just be gentle but firm.

You have to work, after all.

And, as a guy, you need time to yourself.

evry time she starts talkin to much just make he mouth busy doin somethin else.. kissing etc.

you: honey, hey honey... S I L E N C E - *********!

just use a speaker phone, that way you can carry on working as she happily talk away into her phone, or get a handfree thingy, coz from the sound of it most of what she says can be ignored or answered like "oh really?" "o dear that's bad" "yea" "cool" "sure thing" etc

This is such a touchy subject. I would say be honest with her but it is likely she will be offended if you are honest. You could tell her that you prefer to talk in person and you just don't enjoy talking on the phone that much. I guess you have two options: 1) be honest with her and prepare for her to possibly be upset or 2) come up with an excuse that will put a stop to her constant chattering on the phone.
