If you look at what I refer to below, do you think it really is time you seriously comitted to Christianity? |
In the News and Events section on YA, John asks a question about a very large asteroid closing in on the Earth. His link shows it on YouTube. The asteroid is called TU24. I somehow expected the kind of answers so far. Isn't it funny folks say preach your religion elsewhere....aren't WE in the appropriate category....R&S? I'm glad to know Christ, my Lord, my Savior, amen. The reason it didn't work is that kind of reasoning only works on people who *already* *believe*. Report It ...because it says in the bible that God will start slinging large asteroids at earth? Please preach your religion elsewhere, not interested! No, doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Ruining my life by committing it to a non-existent god on the off chance that an asteroid will hit the Earth AND that god will somehow make my 'life' better after the asteroid kills me is a ridiculous idea. Does this sound like a remotely good idea to anyone? nope and if it does happen your gonna end up burned to a crisp along with me, no "eternal salvation" for either of us no, because everyone dies sooner or later.. It's a little early in the morning for Pascal's Wager, don't you think? I'll take my chances. Gee, fear as motivation for religion. Fear is not very effective for converting atheists. Christianity can't be threatening people with their demise after death we are born to die i think people like you should stop trying to push your twisted fears and superstitions on everyone else. shut your whining pie hole. threats of imminent death won't convert me no thanx, il stay as i am i think, but hey good for you that you have found something you like. I'm sorry I couldn't find any information that was relevant to the question in the text below. Is this the hourly Pascal's wager thread (though more intriguingly posed than usual)? I'm with the other chap No...go away!. Why? Sorry, I'm not biting the sales pitch. I also don't have volcano insurance. Do you have a bridge you want to sell me? Salvation isn't an insurance policy, hon - sure, it's a nice bonus, but you belive in God because you think He's real and that He makes sense, not because you're afraid of death. Well, if "making a commitment to Him" was what He asked me to do, I just might consider it, but its NOT! The bible warns us to get out of Christianity. Refereed to as Babylon the Great , the world Empire of false religion. I'm sorry but you have not put forward a convincing case for religion. The reason I am an atheist is that I don't believe there is a God. Only conclusive proof will convince me. I think if there really is a God...which as an atheist I don't believe, he will see in to the hearts of those who are good people. If he is all powerful and all forgiving then those people who are good will be admitted into the kingdon of god. The "pits of hell" were an invention by man to keep the populace under control in the middle ages. I'd like you to consider this...... I am an Atheist, always have been and always will be. I respect your right to practice your religion and would never belittle your beliefs. Why then do feel the need to impose your beliefs on me? If an asteroid is hurtling towards us, I have faith in Bruce Willis to save us....... Do you believe that? Yep, you skeerd me into believing. An asteroid heading for a near-miss must be proof of Jesus' divinity. No - I dont. I am not willing to convert to a religion just because someone tells me that doing so may save my bottom. According to Christians it IS Gods will so why should the rest of us worry since we shall be safe. Absolutely not - realist believe in science and education and believe the scientists and astronomers!!! |
