Lots of attention, but am I misreading signals?

I feel a little silly posting this, but I need advice. I am in my 40's and have been talking to a man (also 40's) who I met online. We talked for 2 months by text or phone and finally met last weekend. He hugged me hello and we hit it off right away. Had coffee, then he asked me to dinner. He did not kiss me goodbye, however but called me 5 mins after we said goodbye and we talked the whole way home. He has since called me everyday since. Today he left for a business trip and said he would try to call me while he was gone. But when I asked about seeing him again when he got back, he said he couldn't promise that and didn't know. Only that
" maybe in the weekends after he is back". That hurt and I was not sure why. I guess it because I thought he really liked me. So that was all preamble to my question:
Am I misreading signals? I thought this guy liked me, but he never says he is looking forward to seeing me.
Why all the hesitation? Am I someone he sees as a friend?
Very confused.

Hmmm to tell you the truth it seems like he is definitely into you, but he doesn't want to see too forward, or desperate. He is holding back and kind of letting you know that he isn't the type of guy to throw himself at a woman's feet. If i were you i would be patient, because I am sure he will call you. I broke up with one of my ex-boyfriends because he was the same type of "too good to show that i care too much guy, not into planning for the future but be more spontaneous." Life is short and if you feel that you should pursue this and it is worth it, GO FOR IT. If you hesitate, and believe me women have a good intution!! haha then just rethink your steps! good luck hun!

I can see why you are confused as I am confused as well on him behaviour. There might be more to this guy then you first thought. I think don't get too emotionally involved as there might be something fishy going on.
