If the Pope asked his followers, NOT to discriminate against Atheists. What would you do?

Please answer the question. Do not leave bible verses or anything that involves your religion. Please do not say something along the lines, "The Pope is holy, he will never say anything like that." This is simply a straight up question, I am simply looking to see what you will do if The Pope came out and told you not to discriminate against Atheists. This means no saying they are heathens or they will burn in Hell. Allowing Atheists to hold political offices where currently they are not allowed. Not to call an Atheist's boss at work and telling him to fire him for he is an Atheist and doesn't believe in God. Not to instantly looked down on an Atheist candidate just because they are Atheist.

This is simply a straight forward question. What would you do if The Pope someday told his followers not to discriminate against Atheists?

I would not discriminate against Atheists.

The Catholic Church through the Pope already teaches:

Every form of social or cultural discrimination in fundamental personal rights on the grounds of sex, race, color, social conditions, language, or religion (including Atheism) must be curbed and eradicated as incompatible with God's design.

Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.

The equality of men rests essentially on their dignity as persons and the rights that flow from it.

For more information, see Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 1934 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3s...

With love in Christ.

I would say, good deal Pope, I KNEW TO DO THAT ALREADY.

*ahem* Sorry to shout, I was just clearing my throat.

I don't discriminate against Atheists anyway.
No biggie if the Poop said anything about it.

Common sense already told me that, I'm not waiting for the pope to tell me that.

I think he has already said that, and it's right no one should be discriminated against.
The pope wants to give reasons for belief, and many of the encyclicals are addressed to all men of good will.

this is not the answer that you are looking for, but when I answer questions I have to be true to my God first- so here it goes-
1- The Pope is not God
2- I listen to God before I listen to any other human- including the Pope
2- God says not to discriminate against atheists- they are part of the world, Jesus came to save- even if they do not believe that
4- I have a question for you- did you realize that you just discriminated against Christians? HOW- by telling us not to say things that are biblical which means we cannot tell the truth- and speak what we believe. If the Pope told you not to discrimate us, would you?

then i would do my best to not discriminate against atheists. God teaches unconditional love. not hate for the enemies. fundamentalists have got it all wrong =D

I find it revealing that the first answerer gives links to PROVE that the Pope 'doesn't discrminate against atheists'...

I read the first link...

It calls me a 'communist'. I quote:

"On Atheistic Communism"

"We cherish the firm hope that the fanaticism with which the sons of darkness work day and night at their materialistic and atheistic propaganda will at least serve the holy purpose of stimulating the sons of light to a like and even greater zeal for the honor of the Divine Majesty."

No, no discrimination there...move along nothing to see...AHEM.
