Heard about Barack Obama's church?

I called the church and asked if it was indeed Barack Obama's church and they told me yes.

Doesn't it come across bigoted? I liked him until I found all this out. We all have rights to separate ourselves...that's America BUT should someone that is this much of a "separatist" run a country FULL of more races, religions and creeds than any other country in the world?

Obama cannot hide his past, no matter how he tries to mask over it with his wide grin and shallow promises of this so-called change. And what would that Change be - coming from a black separatist church that encourages a deep racial divide. Now he can't tell the voters that - so he tries to make everyone else look racist if they don't buy his B.S. - that in itself being racist. No thanks - I'll take my chances with the devil I know - rather than the devil I don't know.

Definitely slanted towards race thats for sure. I see the emails going around too about him being Muslim, but I'm guessing thats false. This looks to be true though. I don't think we can afford to elect a president who belongs to and supports a church like that.

Yes I see what Obama's response is, but why is it necessary for the church to be stressing "black" so much?? Why does race have to be mentioned so prominently several times in their mission statement? This is not about the catholic religion, it is about a church which very clearly promotes black values over others, AND that promotes a committment to another country. I guarantee you that any candidate out there now would be skewered by the media if it was found that they belonged to a church that was "unashamedly white".

Yeah, I've seen the web-site and I have to agree with you on this. People claim that he can unite us all, but I see him as a divider. How can he unite all races when he is a separatist? I don't see how that is possible.

You could hold up my church's doctrine and you might not like parts of it. But that does not mean I'm a bad person.

Oh please! Give me a break. My church is white/Irish Catholic....they make a HUGE deal about Irish heritage and have all the symbols and holidays....it makes them proud of who they are, not bigoted.

He is no more a separatist than your average white rich male. Please focus on issues, how you feel he would be about the issues, like the economy, education, the war...don't get hung up on this stuff.

I see nothing wrong with the church being all blacks, but I do see a HUGE problem with all the Africa crap. We are in The United States of America, and that means that we owe it our alleigance, and no other country, regardless of our heritage. Everyone has a different heritage, if you trace it far enough back, we all immigrated here at some point in time, but most of us still are committed to America, not Africa, or Mexico, or any other country other than the one was are citizens of.

Here is Obama's response to the criticism on this topic.

"Commitment to God, black community, commitment to the black family, the black work ethic, self-discipline and self-respect. ...Those are values that the conservative movement in particular has suggested are necessary for black advancement. So I would be puzzled that they would object or quibble with the bulk of a document that basically espouses profoundly conservative values of self-reliance and self-help."

If black ppl are Afrocentric in any manner we are considered separatists and racists. Being proud of our skin color and not allowing white America to convince us that we should be ashamed of it is NOT racist nor separatists. We can be unapologicically African American, black or what have u and still be caring towards our fellow non black Americans.

Again, just because a Christian church agrees with Louis Farrahkans political views and activism towards African issues does NOT mean they are Muslim, racist or separatist. I guess because Angelina adopted an African baby and donates to Africa, that makes her a racists against whites and a separatists too. Or does that rule only apply to blacks?
