Did you watch, on 1.21.08 on cable TV, "the world without people," wondering what i wondered: this?

i really looked forward to seeing this show that had been advertised for at least a month on cable called "the earth without people," that played on monday, january 21, 2008...

but, i have to ask, if you saw it, did you think about what i did?

1. all human beings vanished, leaving their homes, offices, cars, parks, whatever--but they are all GONE. where did they go? did they, all 6.2 billion of them, witness the second coming of christ and suddenly, all of them, just fly up there with jesus?

because, how ridiculous:

2. there are NO HUMAN BODIES, anywhere!

3. they show dogs stuck in their houses who eventually must don a superman cape to somehow break through the windows, to escape, so that they can eat...

4. they show rats and mice quietly munching on the cereal pieces that they have somehow gotten out of all the boxes lining the aisles in a grocery store, then they talk about how

DON'T ANSWER...YET. CONTINUED BELOW.

they eventually are relegated to eating the cardboard boxes, and even glue, but do the dogs eat them? no! what do the dogs eat?

3. you would think that the dogs would hunt down dead people, but none exist! what happened to them???

4. nothing has happened to the buildings or the cities or to the roads, but the director makes such a big deal out of how nature will overtake them (plantlife, well, of course it would) that he entirely misses the whole point:

who, i ask, would give a damn if all the bridges eroded until they fell into the waters below them?

who cares what dogs, mice, cockroaches, wild animals, zoo animals escaped (too) and cats eat (except, how did they escape their homes, huh?).

why is so much emphasis put on how the vines creep up the buildings, sucking water out of little crevices in the mortar, destroying them in the end? and cars too, that rust away? there are no people to live there or to drive them, so who cares?

A LITTLE MORE...

It was an interesting concept, and I almost watched it. Then I remembered other shows that the same people have marketed in the same way. A little science mixed with a lot of sensationalism and speculation that doesn't penetrate very deeply into the overall logic... along with disregard for common sense and a generous helping of political correctness "niceness" so as not to scare too many children or upset anybody. Sometimes I get the feeling they paid too much for their CGI system and have to find any excuse to use it. So I didn't watch it.

It sounds like I made the right choice. Between that type of show and their fondness for shows about cryptozoological and paranormal subjects, I've pretty much abandoned that group of channels.

But in the end, there are pockets that humans have abandoned in real life. The area around Chernobyl should tell you almost everything that will take place if humans suddenly leave an area.

Long live PBS! Not as glamorous, but much better material.

Yes, PBS is slanted to the left when viewed from the far right. Report It

First of all, the show wasn't about how we all dissapeared, it was about how the environment will adapt with out us around (And how even the cockroaches will mourn us). It shows how the buildings will colaps by ice wedging, and plant roots. It was very cool, seeing our word changing, what things will be like when we are gone

IF YOU DON'T CARE... about the roots and stuff and all the stuff mentioned... DON'T WATCH IT!!! simple as that.

Maybe we all went to live on Mars... LOL?

And it was called "Life After People"... Sorry just had to add that!

I DON'T AGREE...

Just more propaganda from environmentalist wackos that think humans should not populate the earth.

I had it on until the part about cockroaches which was disgusting and changed the channels to a less repulsive show. On the History Channel, right? It's too bad too, because the way they advertised the show it looked like it would have been good and something I thought I wanted to see.
