What do you think of Banks who have their employees?

go door to door to local businesses to try to sell checking accounts and other bank services to local businesses and their employees?

I think it is highly unprofessional to come to my home or work uninvited to try to sell me something. There is a time and place for such things. If I want a banking account I go to the bank. If I want some cheap a@@ toy, I go to the toy store. If I want a bottle of cologne, I go to the mall. I have never and will never buy something that is solicited to me by door to door salesmen. In fact I am more likely to buy from their competitor if and when I am looking for their product.

I do not know what kind of replies you are looking for but that is what personal bankers do. In retail banking it is important to continue to expand your client base and increase revenue for your branch. That is the key gauge for your performance. The retail side is linked with the commercial aspect in many ways. The bank will then use these funds to provide loans to its commercial clients.

As a personal banker you have to possess salesmanship and strong communication skills. You have to customize your approach to each party and present yourself well. It is not an easy job and not everyone is capable of being successful. The position is professional and there is nothing illegal about it. Since the nature of my job is on the other side of the spectrum I admire personal bankers for their tenacity and drive!!

I have never liked any kind of in-my-face solicitation. One of the reasons I left banking was because they were becoming so much about sales. It has become their main focus.
