Did you know that Democrats support more taxes on the poor?

Most taxes we pay are hidden, not income tax. Everything you do or buy has tax costs built in. The manufacturing, trucking, retail, fast food, services of all types, insurance, license fees , plumbers, auto repair, etc, etc. Thes taxes cost us all equally, rich or poor. Democrats proposals all raise taxes on business that will be paid by us all. These hidden cost far exceed IRS taxes, and there is no discount for the poor or low income.

(hint: for those of you to whom facts are repugnant, do not read)

- Estate and gift taxes - the higher rates and lower exemptions will be reinstated.
- Payroll taxes - For example, in 1994 you paid $7,514 (12.4 percent times $60,600), while in 2008 you will pay $12,648 (12.4 percent times $102,000). Thus, your maximum Social Security payroll tax has been increased by 68 percent since 1994.

Actually, it is John McCain who might favor a sales tax, not the Democrats. The Democrats are generally against sales taxes, precisely for the reasons you suggest. Instead, Democrats are for increasing taxes on the wealthy. In Obama's case it means raising people's income tax for families who make over 250,000 a few percentage points.

One of the few things that President Clinton did right was is the EITC. This gives money back to poor people, so that in fact they pay very little taxes. I don't think it is more than the payroll tax, but to say that there is no discount for the poor is misleading.

Any tax, be it income tax, business license fees, or whatever, is a cost of doing business. As such, businesses build it into the cost of their goods and services. Thus, all taxes paid by a company do trickle down to the individual consumer. The notable exception of course being a transactional tax like sales tax, which is collected by a company from the customer and then remitted to the taxing authority.

Any tax they pass to companies get passed to the consumer. When you buy groceries, Gas, or go to Walmart, you are paying for the higher taxes.

When they tell you " we will tax only the wealthy people", run!!! There is no way to enforce a tax like that. Most of the wealthy people own companies and we the consumer buy products and would pay for the higher cost.

Just look at the cost of a burger when the minimum wage went up. McDonald's, Burger King and all the others raised their prices to cover the increase so, everyone was a looser.

Obama actually wants to cut the taxes for those making under $70,000 and he wants to raise it for those making over $200,000.
