What would be the best, and cheapest shipping service to use?

If I was starting a small business. I want to ship overnight and would like to know if UPS or Fedex would be better.

As far as service goes, there is not much difference between the two. We have had good experience with both.

As far as pricing, if you are going to be shipping in high volume each company will work with you to provide discounted rates. We had been using FedEx but were approached by salesmen from UPS and were given a plan that was to save us about 20%. The rates were better, but the first bill we received was loaded with surcharges. That wiped out the savings. Feeling a bit deceived, we switched back to FedEx.

You should contact both and let them set out their best rates based on your projected volume. Just be sure to ask about surcharges! Good luck with your new venture should you decide to go ahead with it.

It really depends on where you are shipping to and the weight of the package. They are both great services but you might get a better deal shipping to LA with Fed Ex than UPS, but then get a better deal shipping to NYC using UPS than Fed Ex. It really is a toss up.
Me personally, i prefer UPS. I find it easier then Fed Ex and if their is a problem, their customer service is great.
Also if you call in a to have a pick up at your office/warehouse and you forget a package or an order is turned in late after the UPS driver has already left, there are plenty of The UPS Store's around that you can just drop it off there.

You can check DHL, FedEx, UPS and USPS all at once. I wouldn't discount DHL as they're trying to make some inroads and definitely offer one of the lowest international shipping services.
