I'm an 18 year old male but what if I don't enlist National Service what happens then?

I mean I don't want to enlist. I don't want the government knowing my business or going into the draft if there is one.

Will the government do anything by me not enlisting?

you can get in a bunch of trouble, prison and fines, blah blah, can't get financial aid for college, and when you get caught you are put on a national register for not doing it, and it will haunt you for life, just do it lke we all did idiot......

That depends on what country you are talking about. In the US if you don't register for Selective Service you are ineligible for a wide range of benefits and services, such as Federal Student Financial Aid, Federal Employment, Unemployment benefits, HUD loans etc... Also most private sector employers will not hire you (They are required by law to ask) if you are not registered. All this can be avoided by registering.

As to your concern about a draft, IMHO a draft in the US is HIGHLY unlikely. We have become much to accustomed to an all-volunteer military to go back to conscripts.

And to address you concern about the government knowing your business, if you have a Social Security Number (SSN), the government already knows your business. The Selective Service registry is just a database of Military Age Males (MAM), which sole purpose is in HIGHLY unlikely event a draft becomes necessary, we will not have to scramble and cross-reference MAMs against 300,000,000+ SSNs during a national military emergency. This is best summed as "Those who fail to plan, plan to fail."

One last thing, if a draft does occur(HIGHLY unlikely), if you enlist before you are drafted, YOU choose which service you want to go into and what job you want. If you get drafted, well your fate is up to "the needs of the service" and the whims of the sergeant at the induction center.

More than likely not. You are one person out of a million, and there by you really don't matter to them. I would not fear the draft, if you look back into military history the worst of the worst came due to the draft. It is far better to have a volunteer force of young people who want to serve than to try and force someone who does not want to.

I'm quite sure that the gov't has considered those such as yourself. Basically, you can run but you can't hide. If you were given the options of prison or war, which would you choose? In the past, draft dodgers (such as Muhummad Ali) had to face imprisonment as an alternative to going to war. Times do change, and I'm not sure what the consequences would be today for draft dodgers.

I myself volunteered to serve in the U.S. Military and I don't regret it. If I was drafted to go to war again, I would. If I was drafted to shed my blood for a gov't that stands for religious freedom, free enterprise, and equality - I would gladly give my life for, such a gov't of, MY COUNTRY!

i think you mean Registering for the draft.. not much would happen but you would be ineligible for any govt loans in the future.
If you meant not wanting to enlist, continue on your merry little way.

Yes. You WILL be found and punished accordingly. And, quite honestly, you are a traitor if you do not want to fight for your country. My forefathers died (literally) for this country and if the need comes, you will too. I would gladly lay down my life for our government.

You will be barred from many federal services, such as college loans, grants, government jobs, etc. You also won't be able to get a passport if you want to travel. In some states your driver's license will be blocked as well.

Be Barve Do not enlist..Tell Uncle Sam to molest someone else.
