For sheridan Wyoming only...........?

I would like to take some time to ask some questions about a new business coming to town. These questions will be for pet owners or soon to be pet owners. I want in return, full honesty, opinions and any advice you may have when replying to this post.

First let me explain the idea of the business. This business will be a simple "dog wash" if you will, not offering full service grooming. The services are is as follows......Shampooing acording to skin and coat type, conditioning acording to skin and coat type, blowdry, brushing, nail trim, ear cleaning, teeth cleaning, paw pads & sanatary areas shaved. Additional services will be full body shaves, flea and tic removal, matt removals and the ever classy of nail paintings. Its all grooming at your service except scissoring styles. Since there are no scissoring available, this allows for cheaper prices other than what a full service groomer would charge. Plus, special needs dogs, law enforcment K9's and fire rescue dogs will have discounted prices. I have learned that the groomers in town are over booked with their schedule, even up through September. Most of those dogs are needing simple baths but cannot get in for several weeks on end. So my simple questions to all of Sheridan is this, would Sheridan look forward to this type of business, what would you look for in a simple dog wash shop, what don't you like about an express dog wash in town that does not offer styling cuts? Any replies will be greatly appreciated and encouraged!

Sounds almost like full service grooming to me. I don't live in Sheridan either but I'm over the mountain to the west. To me full service grooming doesn't necessarily mean putting poodles into continential clips. It means doing much of what you're describing as far as bathing, drying, dematting, ear cleaning etc. I find that most people just want their dog clipped down in an easy to care for style and clean. Teeth cleaning is a veterinary procedure and should only be done at a veterinary establishment. A true dog wash is where the owner brings the dog in and does all the work himself. The dog wash provides the tub, water, towels, shampoo, brushes, clippers, etc. and the owner does all the work. I know that there is a dog wash up in Billings, MT. You might want to check it out. This time of year it's hard to get into a groomer anywhere. Our groomer anymore just does standing appointments because she is so busy. Grooming is a good business to get into but it's hard work too. Make sure that your prices reflect the time that you spend grooming the animal. Many groomers go out of business because they price their service too low and get burned out. Anymore many pet groomers don't do much scissoring. They can do really classy pet trims with a pair of clippers, proper blades and alot of practice. Good luck.

While I don't live in Sheridan, Wyoming, my husband and I do own a dog wash- while the services ARE in great demand, there is no way to keep prices low, and still keep enough business to stay in business. We offer grooming- and if it wasn't for our grooming services, we wouldn't make enough money to stay in business.
