Gas is $7 a gallon and predicted to go higher, your electric bill is 60% higher than it was the same month a year ago, rice is $5 for a 5 Lb bag, sugar isn't far behind, a 1 Lb box of pasta is $3, milk is $6 a gallon, the cheapest bread you can find is $3 a loaf. The government imposes rationing, gas stations close due of lack of business, other businesses are allowed to be open only 8 hours a day to conserve energy, a lot of them go bust, official unemployment climbs to 30%, the stock market falls 2,000 points in one day until the S.E.C. steps in and shuts operations. Crime is climbing out of control and riots break out, police and services can't cope and can't afford to respond. I'd say it's high time to go get some friends, collect our torches, pitchforks, shovels and other yard tools and walk to congress and pay them a visit, pretty much in the same way the peasants paid a visit to Dr. Frankenstein's castle. Count my blessings! - there are many people/places in the world right now that are worse off than this and if the scenario you describe were to happen in the US then these other places would be much, much worse. laugh at all the silly things that man has made important. in the end when it all falls apart you might realize that men are mentally retarded. i think we should have listend to god in the first place and we wouldn't be chasing bull **** that don't even matter in the end. think about it, God gave us food, air, water, all for free. but alas men are greedy and want power, well God is now taking it away because of our sins. if God put oil underground, it was probably supposed to stay there and not in the air we breath, nor should we leave these big empty holes underground, and then wonder why everything is polluted and earth quakes. Tough it out put your trust in God and hopefully it will improve but it will take some time. The Great Depression was worse and people made it we just have to modify our way of living now and learn to "save" money. Something that this generation doesn't do well. |
