Do you know anyone in person who is hiring?

Hello, my name is John. I live in Southern California, Los Angeles Area. Do you know anyone in direct who is hiring? it takes a while through monsters, craiglist, hotjobs, etc, and I only get few phone calls.

I am looking for adminstrative/ secretary work in a bank/ finacial service, law offices/ CPA office, or any business field..
I have around 1-2 years of work experiences. (including volunteer, intership)

If you know anyone in person, directly, could you give me some information? company? job description, website if there is? location? anything is fine. Thank you for your help.. (monsters,com, craiglist, yahoo, hotjob. etc, won't help) I am looking for direct job, or anyone who is hiring.. I am looking for work referals. No Scam, no internet online business please!

You need to do more in-person networking.

As a Christian, you will probably have friends at a church, or group, or camp, or whatever. Tell them about your search, leave resumes with them.

Spread the word to everyone you come into contact with - your barber, your car repair person, the dry cleaning shop, etc.

Join a social networking site that is professional, like Linkedin.com. The site can link you up with people looking for skills that you may possess.

Be positive. But be prepared for a long search - the economy is in the pits, especially with the lousy jobs report and 400 point DOW drop yesterday.

They are a top Fortune 500 company, and voted in the top 100 places to work as per Fortune magazine. A company that has been in business for over 55 years and spends over $60 Billion in advertising alone, is doing something right!!

Simply look up your regional office by your zip code on www.aflac.com. I was offered a position in 1994 and did not take it...if I had, I could be retired by now and am only 34 years old.

What about your yellow pages? Why not go through the categories one by one, making a list of places you would like to work. Take down addresses and phone numbers. Search out the zip codes to complete the addresses, then call the places by phone to get the name of the director of personnel.

Take a more direct approach yourself. No one here can recommend you or your work, but you have the opportunity to make a good first impression if you turn in a great cover letter, resume, and have it addressed to the person who should see it.

These days places don't advertise much because they get so many applications all the time. They don't waste their time with ads and newspaper....so tap into the hidden job market rather than hope others can do it for you.
