Is "automatic bill pay" a better solution for me?

I am a very responsible person when it comes to money, and I have good credit history.
But lately, my business and works have been stressful. I normally pay my bills right away as soon as I received them.
But two months ago, I forgot to pay two of my bills and I got late charges and service fees.
So I finally signed up for the automatic bill pay with one of my checking account. I have to pay 23 bills a month. and they all have different due date.
Last week, I didn't make the deposit on time, and I got an insufficient fund notice from the bank. (because one of my payment is automatically withdraw from the account)
I run my own business, and I have billions of things to do everyday. I don't have time to go to the bank making the deposit all the time. And I am only using this checking account to pay all my bills, so I don't like to deposit more than I have to. How do I avoid "insufficient fund" notices in the future. Any tips and suggestions? I love automated bill pay . It's so easy and you don't need to worry about forgetting the bill . My only advice is to make sure that when the due date comes along you have the money in your account .

I deposit then pay bills. I try and take 15 minutes or less each week to take care of the bills, usually the day I've deposited the money.

Like, for instance... I get paid every Friday. I deposit Friday morning, then try and pay bills on-line, either on Friday afternoon, or Monday morning. I pay all I need to, then balance my check book. That way I'm always on top of them.

Does your bank offer "on line bill pay"? I have Chase bank, and I pay my bills on line for free when I choose to pay them. perhaps you can set that up at your bank and once a week pay whichever bills are coming due.

This works for my Husband and me very well and is fast, and convenient.

Give yourself a buffer. If your total bills out for the month is 1000.00 then put 2000.00 in. Then you always have money in there for bills. And getting to the bank on the exact day isn't a must. Can't youo direct deposit your payroll?

Auto bill pay is good.. BUT. you absolutly need your banks "bounce protection feature", which extends you a line of credit if your bills bounce.. mine is just over $3,000..... then just pay it off as soon as the money gets in.

i dont personally like it myself. i dont want anyone pulling money from my acct just for that reason. if something comes up didnt make a deposit. etc

i dont have 23 but i have about 10-12. each month like today, i copy on my calender each Friday what i have to pay throughout the month. all week your at your desk its there so i find it the easiest way to stay on top of things

We have "online bill pay". So I just go on and tell the bank who I want to pay and how much. I can see when I log in how much money is in my account and if my direct deposit paycheck is deposited yet. That way I don't ever go over because I know how much is in there. I pay my bills on the 15th and at the end of the month. Paying them at those times mean that some are early and some are on time but I can only think about it twice a month. I don't have 23 bills to worry about though. That's a lot!

You might also look into what other options there are. I have seen companies that will charge your bills to a credit card and then you could pay the credit card (with all the bills on it) off at the end of each month so you didn't have any interest charges. If that was possible, you would only have one bill with one due date.
