I am only at the end of Freshmen year but this is a prediction of future grades (Thanks in Advance)

If you can pull off these grades, you'd be a competitive candidate for UM and Northwestern. The Ivy Leagues are incredibly unpredictable though.
My friend and I both got into Harvard this year. I was at a 5.2 overall weighted gpa, and he was at a 3.8 (you can see it varies). we both got 2300+ on the SAT though, and participated in the about the same sponsorships, clubs, and teams for four years. He ended up choosing the University of California, Berkeley (obviously the best place to go for a physics major) and I chose the University of California, Davis (I want Engineering, and human and animal biology)
We were both in this program where we received help and advice from former Ivy League Admissions Members turned counselors. One thing I can clearly remember them telling us is "Do NOT go to cuba and build houses for the poor, it is extremely overdone and it will be obvious you're only doing it for you 'resume'"
I didn't apply to any of the other schools you mentioned, but I did get into Princeton, Chicago, Berkeley, UCLA, Duke, and Notre Dame. I'd be glad to give you advice and stuff like what classes/extracurriculars to take/avoid.

Sure, those are great places to receive an education and if you do all those stated things, you'll be right up there with the competition. All of these universities are ranked at or near the top. With SAT scores above 2200 and something special (publishings, academic projects, service of some type that will set you apart from the rest), you should have a great chance.

Of course, all this much easier said than done....Personally, none of those universities interest me very much.

If there is one thing you're going to learn about the entire college selection process, it's that each university and college has it's own particular tradition, character, history and personality. You should find and attend one that is a good fit for you. Spending all your time trying to be what you think Harvard, Yale, or any other big name college wants you to be will lead to one thing.....disappointment.

Good Luck.

This being a prediction, you have to wonder if you'll really end up with those grades, considering they're all better than your freshman year's. However, even if you maintain your freshman GPA throughout high school, you're in pretty good shape.

Harvard and Yale are unlikely, just because they are. PERFECT students get rejected. Doesn't hurt to apply, it could happen.

If you can get a 32+ ACT (which really isn't that difficult--most people exaggerate the difficulty of the ACT and SAT) you'll have a verrrry good chance at michigan, and a good shot at both cornell and northwestern.

Good luck!

Obviously, if these were your actual grades, and you had a perfect SAT score, you would have a good chance, but since these are only your predictions (or wishes), it is hard to say. The best predictor of future grades are current grades, but most students tend to assume that they will do better in the future. It is a nice goal to shoot for, but don't assume that you will achieve it.

No, because your an over achieving douche bag!!! Seriously, yea, i think you could make it just fine. With the AP classes though, you should get 1.2 credits, not 1.0 so your gpa should be higher than a 4.0. Dont forget to have some fun time while your in high school though. Its the most important time of your life, and if you dont have fun once in awhile now, you will ALWAYS regret it. But good job. Community service can be fun also, so def. keep on that. Within a 6 month time frame, i did almost 500 hours all because i liked the guy who i was helping.

Good luck, and i hope everything goes well.

wow thats pretty good.
but dont forget you need to be able to also write a killer essay and have a good and fresh personality.
but your grade and GPA is definetly good!

Harvard- it will be REALLY hard to get in. even with your stellar grades, you could be wait-listed.
Yale- same as Harvard.
Cornell- same as Harvard. but i think a little bit easier?
Northwestern- not sure
U.Mich-not sure either

GOOD LUCK!

im going to give you the blunt truth, i dont think so...

but u might have a chance..the thing is that kids regularly go to yale and harvard and ect...with above a 4.0 average and are in ALOT of extracurricular activity's, with volunteer work

Don't forget about SAT/ACT.

For Harvard and Yale, you need to score at least 2200 + for SAT and 34+ for ACT.

For others, probably 2000+ SAT and 30+ for ACT.

Good luck

So -- basically you are asking if you can get into a good university if you take advanced classes and get straight As?

Of course. Now for the hard part -- get those grades.

You're only a freshman? Wow! I'm impressed. You will not have a problem going to any school you apply to.

If you are in-state for U. of Michigan, I'd say you are pretty good there. For Yale, Cornell, and Northwestern, I'd say, you could be a competitive candidate, but you aren't likely to get acceptances to all of them (or any of them) if what you have listed is all you would do by senior year.

While your grades are good, your extracurriculars are far from impressive compared to what others will bring to the table. Your extras aren't screaming "leader" to me, they tell me your are very bright, but that's about it. I definitely would say keep up the community service, FBLA, and the others that you enjoy doing. Almost everyone who is applying to the schools you want will be members of NHS and compete on academic teams. Diversify your extracurriculars and find something you love and excel to leadership in one or two of them (but not only in academic games). Show them you are someone special. If you think you can get into Yale, Cornell, and Northwestern based on good grades and okay extras, you will disappointed with senior year during acceptance time.

The great news is, you are a freshman and you are taking a very proactive role in exceling in your education. You'll be fine, and get into some great schools, just keep up the good work.
