Are there grants for starting a nonpfit business?

I want to start up a non-profit organization in the social services field. I need money to get started, get an poffice space, start paying employees, and buy supplies. Would I be eligible for grants even before we are open for business? I plan to be 501.c.3 certified, and getting by-laws and a governing board if directors assembled before we open.

You will not recieve grants or donations unless you are a 501c3 organization. Someone else just asked this question on this. Are you hpytoluvk9's friend. Her question was asking for a friend. If not, then I'll just tell you the same thing that I basically told her.

First you need to do the requirements set by your state. Articles of incorporation, state approval ect. You also need to set up a 501c3 status with the IRS that gives you the non profit status. I suggest you go to http://www.501c3.org They can help you set up everything from what you need with your state as well as deal with the IRS for you. They have a 100 percent success rate in establishing this status.
Most non profits network in various different ways. Mainly through Colaborations with other non profits to help each other serve the communitites by combining services, or using each other's services etc. The Santa Barbara Foundation Group puts collaboration meetings out here. I'm not sure what state or county your in, so I can't help you with that area, without knowing where you are.
Your going to find that obtaining grants and donations is going to be very difficult to do. The compeition is very high all over the U.S for grants and donations because of all the NPO's out searching and grant writing etc to have these high dollar amounts needed to fund their programs. We've put together a program that can actually illiminates these needs, and you can start your funding before your a 501c3. Collaborating with the telecommunications industry and have them donate a percentage to the non profit organizations. It's a project that we've put together in helping major funding resources to a wide spread of npo's. No competition in this at all for the funding. I'm not sure what your funding need is, but it's covering non profits with need ranges of 1,000 a month (smaller organizations) on up to 40,000 a month and some 50,000 a month. (these are for larger organizatons obviously). I'm not sure what your organization size or expenses are, so I just gave you a very broad range of funding availability through the programs that we have available.
