Starting own business any advice???

myself and my brothers partner want to start our own fresh food delivery service. we want to get a van kit it out with shelves and a fridge, and make fresh sandwiches/cakes/pasties etc sell them with drinks/crisps and such like from the back of our van at businesses i.e building sites/industrial estates/factorys . we need some advice on where to start with the law and food safety/hygiene side of things. we know about buying a van ect we need to know the certificate side of things that we need to get before we even start. does anyone know who we go to???

These types of business are regulated by city and state laws. You should visit your city and state web pages, look under the business section. This should be a start.

When starting a business you also need to put together a team that has knowledge of the business. One valuable member of the team is a lawyer. You need to have someone in the legal profession take a look at your business plan and tell you if you are following all the laws.

You would not want to find out that you had invested a lot of money in something and were not following the laws and then get shut down or not be able to make money because you were not following some rule.

There may even be others who are doing this type of business already. They may be a source of info for you. Just contact the owner and let them know that you are interested in their business. Many people like to talk about their business and how they built it up, so you may be able to learn some valuable lessons this way.

Talk to your local Business Link, they will advise you, but, unless you are very lucky you will find that most areas are already well served by this type of business.
