Will my business idea be a hit or a $hit...need public opinion?

Is there a demand for...

a hair-washing and massage service at malls near you?

Like when you get your hair cut and they wash it and massage first

This would be a cheap and quick service

pay per minute of massage (cheaper than a spa)

quick hair-drying would be included of course

Would you maybe stop to get a nice, relaxing hair wash at your busy day at the mall? Consider it a treat to yourself, much like you would buy yourself a pretzel or a cinnabon.

Spas are like the fine dining of relaxation. This is the fast food...quick, cheaper, and yet scrumptious. No appt necessary, walk ins only.

Good idea, or a flop? My entire life is at stake here.

it wouldn't be just any wash...
it would be like how your teeth feel when you get back from the dentist.

So it would be like a 'head spa' in a sense.
Would it come with a massaging at the temples? Cuz that would be dreeeeamy! I'd go for that if it was next door to where I work. This reminds me a little of the shoe shine store i pass by. They cater to the bridge/ tunnel commuters so it works. In N out. Sounds cool.

Think about some customer's comfort level. Some don't want to be touched, some do. It's mostly for the salon goers I guess. Offer diff. varieties of shampoos. Some would want the expensive Aveda, some ok with BedHead, and some just with the Head n Shoulders. Oooh! Offer a special shampooing to people with problem hair, like super-deep-conditioning if their hair is straw-like, or some thing for dandruff prone scalps.

You'd have to make the customers sign some waiver that reveals if they had any chemical treatments done withint the last six months. You don't want the liability if some salon messed up their hair and when you wash it it falls out on you. And turn away girls with extensions 'cuz if they come out you don't want to reimburse them for it (expensive).

Would this service come with free tea and tea biscuits while you wait? That would be lovely.

Oh, you could get companies to peddle their free products at your salon if they pay you a set percentage. LIke, say Lipton comes out with some revolutionary diet tea, then you try out their free samples upon your waiting customers and Lipton pays you X amt. of dollars per product/ month or however you want to work it. Just throwing it out there. Product testing, yay!

Man, I'm excited about this idea! Good luck and hope you come to a mall near me!

flop, since legally you can not touch anyone unless you are licensed to do so, which will cost alot of money, and you will have to have specialized sinks and chairs and licensing, and inspectors....which will cost more than you will make. on average a shampoo cut and style in a mall is under 30$ for a walk in place...massage is usually 80 and up depending on what style, so to go to someone they havent heard of who might not be licensed that could ill trigger the lymphatic system and make them sick...well bad idea...cuz face it if someone has a cold and you give them a massage...it would spread it threw their whole body via the lymphatic system and you could be held responsible.

I don't think I would ever say to myself, "Hmm. I don't wanna wash my own hair today. Let me head over to the mall." Or, "Hey, this place can wash my hair. Let me just pop in here," when out at the mall It would be really inconvenient and not cost-effective to have someone else do it on a regular basis. I think people that are willing to pay for something like this will also be seeking to have a professional blow-out or style.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
