How do I get a refund?

Northwest Airlines charged me for an amount I never approved. I've been getting the run around when I call their customer service. I used a $300 voucher for a $326 flight, I was specificaly told on the phone I will be charged for the $26.00 difference. I've been charged for the entire amount. Their customer service said I will be refunded, it never happened, then I was told it will happen 2 business days after my refund request, then I was told it will show up on myu April statement. I am a college student, these were $300 I didnt have to spare, I am beyond frustrated. Any help? Advice?

I did not have to mail in anything, I gave the voucher number over the phone.

I booked this last month, and I've kept in touch with them about 4 times since Re: the refund.

I would cancel this ticket, but they promised me I will see the refund by the 24th (I havent) and now my flight is tomorrow and I cannot cancel it, all arrangements were made for the trip.I plan on letting my credit card fight for me like you suggested, but after my trip, once I get my C.C. statement.

Not knowing the process NWA uses for vouchers, however at American you make the reservation via a rep the reservation is on hold until the voucher is mailed in and processed by hand then the ticket is charged to the card once all information is in place and verified. Did you keep a copy of the voucher? Did you have to mail in the voucher or was it applied electronically and if so does it reference the number on your ticket receipt or itinerary? How many days after booking the reservation was the ticket issued if you mailed in the voucher. If it was within a day or two more than likely the agent did not book the reservation properly. If all else fails dispute the charge via the credit card company and let them fight it out for you. Just make sure you have documentation of the voucher and ticket cost prior to the voucher being applied.

Sorry to hear that. It really take some time for the refund to be posted in your account. You can try to call again and verify that the refund was processed on their end. If you get another run around, demand to speak with a supervisor. Normally, refund will be forwarded to your bank within 7-10 business days but it may take a month or so to be posted back in your account.
